5 -8 Eastern Time

The entrepreneurial spirit has struck, and you realize…I need to know about pricing my calligraphy and maximizing my income. And where do I find clients? Join Holly Monroe as she offers a 3-hour peek into her studio, while sharing tips from her 42 years of experience. Additional topics include studio organization, types of projects that customers ask for, licensing your work with a publisher, shows, teaching, managing your schedule and workflow, reproducing your originals, order form and contract, advertising, meeting with the ‘custom’ client and basic taxes for a sole proprietor. Learn what special supplies and materials Holly uses as well as the hardware and software that make her business go. Anything else you would like to know? Please ask! Calligraphy as Spiritual Discipline

January 21 & 22, 2023

10a.m. -5p.m.

On-line via Zoom

Joining God and Self, Word and Image with expressive calligraphy gives you the ability to deepen your personal spiritual growth as well as touch the lives of others….bringing encouragement and hope. Learn to practice your passion for calligraphy to create unique, life giving designs. We will meditate on and think through your selection of thought provoking words, choosing the phrases that speak to you and learn to arrange them in a variety of impactful layouts. Interpret the spirit of the text with imagery, decoration, flourishes and multiple lettering styles changing the weight, height and mood of the letters, first in pencil layouts and as time permits, finalize with watercolor, colored pencil, simple collage or with other tools and materials that you have with you. Create a simple portfolio in which to carry your designs home or gift them to another. Whatever your faith or spiritual bent, you are welcome in this class as we “feed the soul by making meaningful words beautiful.”

General Meeting

Monday, September 12, 2022

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST

There will be a brief period of social time at 7:00 followed by business,

and then the program will begin at 7:30 and end at 9:00 pm.

Show and Tell: Members Share

It is always inspiring to see what our fellow calligrapher friends are creating! For our September Zoom meeting our members will share work that they have done over the summer (or even in workshops over the past year since we last shared).

In past Zoom meetings we have simply asked members to hold up their work before their computer camera during our Zoom meeting. This year we want to try something different. We ask that you take pictures of your work and send them to Program Chair Margaret Amoss at margamoss@yahoo.com by September 3. Margaret will put them together in a powerpoint-style presentation and show them at the virtual meeting, and each contributor will talk about their work while Margaret shows the images. This should make for a more seamless presentation and also allow the work to be highlighted to its best advantage. If you have images of inspiring things from IAMPETH (or another conference or workshop)

please send those too.

Please send your work by September 3 to give Margaret time to put it all together.
